CONCESSIONS AND BENEFITS EXTENDED BY STATE GOVTS/UTs TO RETIRED AND SERVING DEFENCE PERSONNEL
CHANDIGARH
Concessions & Benefits : General
1. Stipend of Rs. 250/- p.m. to servicemen trainees undergoing post release training in ITIs.
2. 10 percent reservation in Group ‘C’ posts and 20 percent in Group ‘D’ posts.
3. Rent Control Act and Land Tenancy Act have been amended to facilitate ex-Servicemen in resumption of their houses/lands.
4. Out of the total number of dwelling units/flats build by the Chandigarh Housing Board, 5 percent are reserved for allotment to Defence/ex-Servicemen.
5. Reservation of 1 percent extra houses for blind and physically handicapped ex-Servicemen.
6. Cash grants to Gallantry Award winners.
7. A Sainik Rest House at Chandigarh.
8. Rs. 300/- p.a. War Jagir allowance to parents of children who have served in the Armed Forces in 1962 or 1971 operations.
9. Concession in reduced margin money for setting up SSI units.
10. 5 percent reservation of Industrial sheds.
11. Equation of service trades with civil trades has been accepted.
12. Computer course for ex-Servicemen/widows and their dependents.
13. Free legal aid given by advocate voluntarily.
14. Maintenance grant of Rs. 450/- p.m. to disabled ex-Servicemen going training at QMTI, Kirkee.
15. 5 percent seats in Engineering and 2 seats in each trade are in ITI are reserved for wards of ex-Servicemen/Widows. No other reservation except SC/ST for admission in Medical College, Chandigarh as directed by Medical council.
16. Financial assistance of Rs. 800/- p.m. are provided to world war veterans and their widows.
17. Rs. 3600/- is provided as one time Scholarship to the wards of ex-Servicemen/widows of UT Chandigarh who have passed Matric + 2 and studying in higher class (above 60% marks).
18. Grant of additional pension of Rs. 200/- p.m. to widows upto the rank of Sub Maj who died in harness i.e. died while on duty (without being battle casualty).
War Widows/Dependents Of Those Killed/Disabled In War Including Casualties Of Op Pawan & Meghdoot
19. Grant of Rail Travel Concession.
20. Complete exemption from tuition fee, hostel charges cost of books/stationery and uniform.
21. 100 percent fare concession in CTU buses in all over India with one attendant.
22. Daughter’s marriage grant to war widows only – Rs. 5000/-
23. Free medical aid in general Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh.
24. 50 percent air concessions to Gallantry award winners/widows on IAC Domestic Flights.
25. The East Punjab Urban Rent Restriction (Amendment) Act 1985 has been extended to UT Chandigarh on 15 Dec 1996 by a Notification GSR 1287 (E).
