CONCESSIONS AND BENEFITS EXTENDED BY STATE GOVTS/UTs TO RETIRED AND SERVING DEFENCE PERSONNEL
ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLANDS
Concessions & Benefits : General
1. Reservation in Group 'C' posts - 10 percent and Group 'D' posts - 20 percent.
2. Financial assistance to ex-Servicemen in distress.
3. Free medical treatment in Govt hospitals. Grant for purchase of artificial limbs.
4. Stipend to ex-Servicemen trainees in agriculture and other trades, scholarship to meritorious children of ex-Servicemen.
5. Book allowance to children of ex-Servicemen studying in professional colleges.
6. Grant for marriage of daughters of ex-Servicemen/widows.
7. 2 Sainik Rest Houses in the UT. (Appendix 'C').
8. Grant of Rs.100/- in cases requiring spot assistance.
9. Grant upto Rs.600/- for alleviation of distress due to natural calamities.
10. Grant upto Rs.1000/- for the purchase of medical aids as recommended by the medical authorities.
11. Grant of Rs.100/- for the marriage of daughter.
12. Grant of Rs.500/- for meeting funeral expenses.
13. Grant of Rs.15/- per day in the case of treatment as indoor patient in the mainland hospitals.
14. Grant of Rs. 10/- per day for treatment as indoor patient in the hospitals for this territory away from the place of residence.
15. Grant of Rs.1000/- for journey expenses for treatment in the mainland hospitals as recommended by the medical authorities.
16. Grant of Rs.200/- for small business.
17. Grant of Rs.200/- to needy child of ex-Servicemen for the purchase of books etc per annum.
18. Grant upto Rs.2000/- for conducting each re-union of ex-Servicemen and annual rally of ex-Servicemen of A&N Islands.
19. Grant of Rs.500/- as journey expenses for one child of ex-Servicemen sponsored by the administration for higher studies in the mainland institutions.
20. Old Age grant of Rs. 100/- p.m.
21. Any other grant as per the discretion of the Lt Governor.
