CONCESSIONS AND BENEFITS EXTENDED BY STATE GOVTS/UTs TO RETIRED AND SERVING DEFENCE PERSONNEL
SIKKIM
Concessions & Benefits : General
1. Stipend of Rs.250/-p.m. to ex-Servicemen trainees in ITIs.
2. 3 percent reservation in both Group 'C' & 'D' posts. Recruitment rules amended in respect of age and educational qualification of ex-Servicemen. (State Govt. Notification No. 87/Gen/DOP dated 23 Mar 98)
3. Priority for self-employment ventures.
4. Old age pension of Rs.200/- p.m. to World War II Veterans and Widows of Sikkim after Attaining the age of 70 years in case of ex-Servicemen and 65 years in case of Widows.
5. Cash grants, annuity and money in lieu of land to Gallantry Award Winners. (Appendix'E').
6. Six Sainik Rest Houses in the State. (Appendix 'C').
7. Free medical aid in Govt hospitals and financial grant of Rs.10,000/- for treatment in Delhi and Calcutta with accommodation facility.
8. Monetary grant and allotment of Jai Jawan Stalls to war widows.
9. Financial assistance of Rs 900/- p.a. to disabled ex-Servicemen for purchase/repair of artificial limbs.
10. Exemption from payment of House Tax and Entertainment Tax.
11. Financial assistance of Rs.1,500/- to widow on death of her husband and to the ex-Servicemen on death of his wife Rs.1,500/-.
12. Grant of Rs.1,500/- each to a Widow for marriage upto maximum of two daughters only.
13. Ex-Servicemen are inducted at suitable levels in State Police Force.
14. Financial assistance to orphan children of deceased servicemen Rs 100/- pm.
15. World War II veterans are given financial assistance of Rs.150/- per month.
16. Exemption of electricity charges upto 100 units per month, to ex-Servicemen and widows w.e.f. Apr 95.
17. Free education/free books issued to children upto Class XII and free uniform/free day food issued to children upto Class V.
18. 10 percent reservation in Fair Price Shops in each District and Priority -1 in allotment of Industrial Plots/Sheds.
19. Free education to children and Award of Stipend of Rs. 300/- p.a. upto Class VIII and Rs. 350/- p.a. from Class VIX to Class XII.
20. ESM ward as paying guest during the course of School sessions is being paid Rs. 1000/- p.a. as Boarding school ward Rs 1500/= p.a. is being paid.
21. ESM/Widow attaining the age of 50 yrs and above are given free of cost travel in Sikkim Nationalised Transport Bus Service, within the State wef 01 Jan 1999.
22. Rent Control and Land Tenancy Acts amended.
23. Penury grant of Rs.900/- p.a. to ex-Servicemen and Widows who are not in receipt of any kind of pension.
24. Separate wards for ex-Servicemen with 6 to 8 beds in district Hospitals.
25. Reimbursement of Medical expenditure including purchase of Spectacles upto Rs.1500/- p.a. only.
Concessions & Benefits Provided By State Govt Of Sikkim To War Widows/Dependents Of Those Killed/Disabled In War Including Casualties Of Op Pawan & Meghdoot
1. Ex-gratia grants of Rs.2,00,000/- all ranks.
2. Free education to children and stipend Rs.300/- p.a. upto class VIII and Rs.350/- p.a. upto class XII.
3. Daughter's marriage grant Rs.1,500/- each upto two daughters
4. House building/repair grant Rs.15,000/-.
