CONCESSIONS AND BENEFITS EXTENDED BY STATE GOVTS/UTs TO RETIRED AND SERVING DEFENCE PERSONNEL
ORISSA
Concessions & Benefits : General
1. Reservation of 3 percent seats in Class III and IV in State Govt services.
2. Five acres of Agriculture land is given to those ex-Servicemen who served in certain specified areas during 26 Oct 1962 to 31 Jan 1964.
3. Allotment of One Std. acres of land to landless ESM upto the rank of NCOs within 5 Km village perimeter residence.
4. Rs.150/- p.m. to World War-II veterans and their widows who are not drawing any kind of pension.
5. Two Sainik Rest Houses (Appendix 'C').
6. 5% seats in Govt colleges / Institutions i.e. Engineering / Polytechnic & ITIs for Defence personnel coming on posting and children of ESM and their Widows.
7. One seat each in 15 Secondary Teachers Training Schools for wards of ESM.
8. 5% seats in Govt colleges for Defence personnel coming on posting.
9. Free medical aid in Govt hospitals.
10. Treatment, bacteriological examination and supply of medicines subject to availability in Govt Hospital. (Income limit Rs.6,400/- p.a.).
11. 1% seat in Govt Colleges reserved for studies of son/daughters of ESM.
12. Reservation of 5% seats in Engineering Colleges and One seat each in every Medical Colleges of Orissa for ESM.
13. Payment of reclamation charges for acres of land @ Rs 250/- per acre to those who have been allotted 5 acres of land.
14. 5 percent reservation in allotment of houses/flats for ESM/Widows in Orissa State Housing Board Schemes.
15. Establishment of monitoring cell -Monitoring Cell at the District level has been established for the welfare of ESM.
16. Govt has approved the relaxation of educational qualification for ESM for appointment in any reserved posts for Class - III employees.
17. Priority for sanction of loan to ex-Servicemen for self-employment ventures by State Financing Agencies.
18. 2% reservation in allotment of House/Residential plots allotted by BDA for Serving personnel/ex-Servicemen/widows.
19. Priority in allotment of Milk Booth/Fair Price Ship/STD Booth to ex-Servicemen/Widows.
20. Exemption of Municipal Holding Tax for ex-Servicemen.
21. Reservation of 2% seats in all Engineering/Polytechnic Colleges and 3% seats in Medical/Dental Colleges for JEE qualified wards of War Widows and Disabled ex-Servicemen.

War Widows/ Dependents To Those Killed/Disabled In War Including Casualties Of Op Pawan & Meghdoot

22. Ex-gratia grant to Next-of-kin of casualties of IPKF killed, wounded and missing is Rs.10,000/-, Rs.5000/- and Rs.4,000/- respectively.

23. The Chief Minister of Orissa has announced Rs 2,00,000/- (Rupees Two Lakh) to NOKs of personnel killed in “OP VIJAY” Kargil sector.
24. One plot 40 x 60 and 60 X 75 to be allotted at Bhubaneswar to the NOK JCOs/OR and Officers respectively.

One job will be provided as per eligibility to the dependent brother/ sister or wife of deceased soldier in Orissa.
