Agriculture Directorate:
GENERAL
1. Today, we have a very weak post-harvest storage and marketing infrastructure. This causes tremendous national loss. To overcome this problem, a new credit linked Capital Subsidy Scheme for construction of cold storages and godowns has been introduced. The scheme would be implemented by NABARD through back-ended capital subsidy, which would be available upto 25% of the project cost subject to a maximum of Rs.50 lakh per project. However, for the projects in the North-Eastern States, maximum subsidy admissible would be Rs. 60 lakh @ 33.33% of the project cost. The Directorate General Resettlement has initiated a project on cold storage costing Rs.1 crore. This project along with a high investment project on plantation of poplar plants was discussed recently in a meeting with the Chairman, NABARD with a view to facilitating ex-Servicemen entrepreneurs considering them as a special target group. Similarly, the scheme for Self Loan Assistance for Margin Money (SLA-MM) was also discussed during the meeting to benefit the ex-Servicemen who intend to avail financial assistance to undertake farm and non-farm sector activities. The details of the Capital Investment Subsidy Scheme and the Scheme of Soft Loan Assistance for Margin Money under SEMFEX-II Scheme are given in the following lines.
